Mark Casali's list ------------------ We have a preliminary list of tests we are intending... 1 DETECTOR CHARACTERISATION TESTS 1.1 DETECTOR TRANSIMPEDANCE (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) Basically getting a number for electrons per ADU Ensure that this number is the same across the array for different outputs and different regions - other detectors have seen capacitance change in different regions thus affecting system sensitivity. 1.2 FULL WELL CAPACITY (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) Look at variation with reset voltage, and get best operating point. 1.3 READ NOISE MEASURE (COPLANARITY & FINAL CRYOSTAT) Spatial, Temporal and Allen Variance all measured - gives good measure of stability of system 1.4 LINEARITY (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) Low Level 0 - 1000 ADU, High Level 1000 - 65k ADU 1.5 DARK GENERATION (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) 1.5 DARK GENERATION (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) 1.6 DARK GENERATION PIXEL MAP (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) 1.7 THERMAL CYCLING EFFECTS ON OPERABILITY (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) * Changes in Hot/cold pixels * Changes in QE Defects Map 1.8 PERSISTENCE MEASUREMENTS (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) 1.9 INTER READOUT CROSS TALK MEASUREMENTS (COPLANARITY & FINAL CRYOSTAT) * Measure 8x8 crosstalk matrix per quadrant using hot pixels * Measure stability of crosstalk matrix over hours and days. 1.10 D.C. DRIFT/GAIN VARIATION WITH TEMPERATURE (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) 1.11 DEPENDENCE OF QE ON ARRAY TEMPERATURE (COPLANARITY CRYOSTAT) This may be very difficult to do since it is a small effect, and is complicated by 1.10. 1.12 QE AT Z AND Y RELATIVE TO JHK (FINAL CRYOSTAT) This can be done on all four detectors during throughput tests with the calibrated blackbody source by measuring throughput in different filters. The tests should bring out aspects of: stability of reset anomaly, dark and illuminated; stability of flatfields (can be just pixel-to-pixel level if stability of illumination source is a problem) would also want to ensure if possible that the cross-talk tests also include quadrants cross-talking with each other in addition to any potential sector cross-talk within quadrants. It was not clear if all that would be covered in the above list, but there may be other time constraints that mitigate against carrying out all these tests in the lab. CASU would be very keen to help out with the analysis of any test data.
