Actions carried forward from 28/09/05 meeting: ---------------------------------------------- ACTION: NCH to investigate the usefulness of a NAS solution for medium term archive mass storage. - CONTINUES Specific points and new actions: -------------------------------- WFCAM update: See the stop press pages linked from the TWiki for latest news. NCH is currently observing. Networking and Archive operation: ETWS reported (by e-mail) that he'd initiated the download of the re-processed files from CASU, including the re-processed pixel data. JB reported that the download had not worked completely and that he was checking and relocating the files before attempting ingestation. Hardware: Sneferu had gone down over the weekend, needing re-booting on Monday, but the RAID system was OK. JB reported that one of the drives on djoser had given trouble and the filesystem rebuilt OK. The new jbod (2.2TB) for amenhotep was ready for delivery and installation but, as this is the on-line system, installation would be deferred until NCH and JNTD were available to minimise downtime of the public server. Software: MAR has continued with tool provide catalogue data matching user-uploaded co-ordinate lists (brought forward following science verifiers requests); now very nearly complete. RSC has investigated making CU2 - jpeg image production creation - faster and was able to get a 50% speed-up but other than that the code is efficient, it just has a lot of work to do. Also looked into integrating wfcamsrc schema driven features into the new source pairing code. Data Release: Pending; awaiting reprocessing, retransfer & reingest of SV1 & 2 data. Astrogrid deployment: Nothing new this week. Miscellaneous: RSC reported on ADASS meeting; he and JDT would put a report on the Twiki. Meeting on Wednesday 19th with UKLight, ETWS and PMW from WFAU attending. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Peredur Williams, Institute for Astronomy, University of Edinburgh Royal Observatory, e-mail: pmw@roe.ac.uk Blackford Hill, fax: (+44) 131 668 8416 Edinburgh EH9 3HJ www: http://www.roe.ac.uk/~pmw phone: (+44) 131 668 8300 (University exchange: 75-300) -------------------------------------------------------------------
