From nch@roe.ac.uk Mon May 23 10:56:36 2005 Date: Fri, 20 May 2005 11:05:43 +0100 (BST) From: Nigel Hambly To: WFCAM Science Archive Team -- Eckhard Sutorius , Mike Read , Nigel Hambly , Nicholas Cross , Bob Mann Cc: CCs for WSA weekly meeting minutes distribution -- Andrew Lawrence , Andy Adamson , John Taylor , Jim Emerson , Malcolm Stewart , Martin Hill , Mike Irwin , Peredur Williams , Stephen Warren Subject: WFAU WSA weekly meeting minutes, 20th May 2005 Minutes of WFCAM Science Archive meeting: 20th May 2005 ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- Present: NCH, NJC, ETWS, MAR Apologies: MCH, AL, RGM, JPE, PMW, JDT, JM DONM: 10am, Friday 20th May 2005, plate library Actions discharged: ------------------- ACTION: NCH to write a tutorial on how to query cross-matched data in the WSA for the web pages. Discharged; completed doc being perused by the team before being put on the web site. Actions partly discharged but continuing: ----------------------------------------- ACTION: MAR to flesh out the "Data Overview" web pages for the WSA. Work in progress. Actions carried forward from 6/05/05 meeting: ---------------------------------------------- None this week. Specific points and new actions: -------------------------------- Project management: Nothing new this week. WFCAM update: Nothing new to report. Comments and issues arising from CASU fortnightly minutes: The team noted the minutes of the meeting of 17/5/2005. Networking: Nothing new this week. Hardware: All archive hardware are functioning normally. Software: NCH noted some scaling problems with large volume catalogue joins (CU16) through the curation client/ DBMS load server ODBC connection (there are problems with high volumes of transaction logging, and difficulties with execution of multiple-statement batches on the server via ODBC). Temporary workarounds have been set up for the time being; advice will be sought from experts within Microsoft and JHU to find more permanent solutions. MAR has continued work on user query queueing; ETWS has completed work on CU5 (default difference image products) and this needs to be tested with the newly processed phase-I commissioning data; NJC continues to work on the core numerical routines required for CU8 (global photometric recalibration). Data Release: NCH suggested that it would be good if we can get the newly processed phase-I commissioning data released to the UKIDSS Testers community before the UKIRT Board meeting on Thurs 26th. NCH will look after the catalogue cross-matching; MAR the web documentation; ETWS transfer/ingest and NJC will peruse the web site and docs and suggest any modifications. SSA: Nothing new this week Astrogrid deployment: No news this week. Miscellaneous: NCH noted that the topic of this year's Annual ROE workshop was now pretty much fixed as "Panoramic near-IR astronomy" and it is envisaged that there will be a significant chunk devoted to WFCAM/UKIDSS/VISTA. Provisional dates are somewhere late Oct/ early Nov. ETWS and MAR noted that there was as yet no programme available for the Euro-VO workshop in Germany; and that there is also an AstroGrid workshop in Cambridge.
