From nch@roe.ac.uk Fri Apr 15 11:36:27 2005 Date: Fri, 15 Apr 2005 11:22:06 +0100 (BST) From: Nigel Hambly To: WFCAM Science Archive Team -- Eckhard Sutorius , Mike Read , Nigel Hambly , Nicholas Cross , Bob Mann Cc: CCs for WSA weekly meeting minutes distribution -- Andrew Lawrence , Andy Adamson , John Taylor , Jim Emerson , Malcolm Stewart , Martin Hill , Mike Irwin , Peredur Williams , Stephen Warren Subject: WFAU WSA weekly meeting minutes, 15th April 2005 Minutes of WFCAM Science Archive meeting: 15th April 2005 ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- Present: NCH, PMW, NJC, ETWS Apologies: MCH, JPE, MAR, AL, JMS, RGM DONM: 10am, Friday 29th April 2005, plate library Actions discharged: ------------------- ACTION: PMW to send comments to JMS and ask that the final version is put on the VDFS web site. Discharged ACTION: NCH, PMW & RGM to meet sometime next week to draft the particulars for the new WFAU posts. Discharged; PMW drafted the particulars and asked for comments. Actions partly discharged but continuing: ----------------------------------------- ACTION: MAR & NCH to check out SQL Server networked server functionality for cross-server querying. Continues: NCH has made some progress by linking the load and public SQL Servers; initial results look promising. - all continuing; thanks for progressing these. Actions carried forward from 8/04/05 meeting: ---------------------------------------------- ACTION: ETWS to look into 3dm RAID monitoring on sneferu, along the lines of the browsable pages on djoser. - CONTINUES ACTION: NCH to write a tutorial on how to query cross-matched data in the WSA for the web pages. - CONTINUES Specific points and new actions: -------------------------------- Project management: NCH and PMW attended the last months (end-of-quarter) monthly VDMT meeting via telecon. The only major issue raised was the lack of a forward plan being presented; PMW has now drafted this and the team discussed it at this meeting. Once again, the team noted that outstanding tasks are piling up owing to staffing being one bod short; quite a lot of user interface luxuries are on hold because of this. WFCAM update: No new update as of 15th April; NCH noted that UKIDSS science verification MSBs are being observed thick and fast... Comments and issues arising from CASU fortnightly minutes: No new minutes as of this week. Networking: The issue of SDSS DR3/4 has arisen amongst UKIDSS, and now would seem to be a good time to contact Jan at JHU to enquire as to possible net transfers of the catalogue access product databases for these (possibly skipping DR3 and waiting for DR4). ACTION: NCH to contact Jan at JHU to enquire as to possible net transfer of the next SDSS catalogue access release database(s). Hardware: All archive hardware continues to function normally. Software: Further work on CUs 1,2,3,8,16 and the user interface, as per last week. Good news this week is that CUs 1,2,3 are now working with the final pipeline products from CASU (as tested via the pipeline processed phase-I comms data) and linked SQL Server functionality has been successfully tested out for CU16 (catalogue joining). This means that there is no need to mirror large database datasets between the public and load SQL Servers. Data Release: No further news this week SSA: Nothing new this week Astrogrid deployment: No news this week. Miscellaneous: NCH reminded the team of his absence over the next 10 days, and asked if everyone knew what they will be doing over the next week or so: ETWS will continue work on CUs 4,5,13,14; NJC will continue work on CU8 - NCH suggested that it might be a good idea to draft a global photometric recalibration document, not only for use internally but also for external purposes (e.g. review, UKIDSS, etc).
