Actions partly discharged but continuing: ----------------------------------------- ACTION: MAR to check out SQL Server networked server functionality for cross-server querying. Continues; NCH suggested we should do some experiments with the linked SQL Servers ahmose & amenhotep once the dust has settled on their reorganisation over the next couple of weeks. ACTION: NCH to remember to action a team programmer to implement range checking in the low-level ingest codes. ETWS & NCH have been discussing this; likely that the new developer will be assigned this task to start them off. - continuing; thanks for progressing these. Actions carried forward from 10/12/04 meeting: ---------------------------------------------- None this week. Specific points and new actions: -------------------------------- Project management: NCH noted the quarterly VDMT face-to-face yesterday. Progress for the previous quarter was reviewed. The main issue to arise at the meeting as for as WFAU is concerned is a tentative schedule for an external review in the second week of May, at which point it is envisaged a Functional Specification Document (FSD), and existing design documents (updated as necessary) would be released (by April 15th). Documents should be "ESO style" (whatever that means). JMS suggested that we should agree offline on the detailed contents of the FSD. NCH noted that a VDUC meeting is being organised, sometime in the second half of February. The idea is to demonstrate real WFCAM data as being processed, ingested and browsable within the archive system. WFCAM update: At the VDMT, MJI noted that CASU now have the complete set of first-phase commissioning data from WFCAM; this will be sifted for useful FITS files and staged at CASU for copying and test ingest into the archive within the next couple of weeks. Comments and issues arising from CASU fortnightly minutes: No new minutes as of 7/1/05 am. Networking: ETWS noted that ACD has now complete his network report, which is to include some input from ETWS on network testing. ACTION: ETWS to put (or link) ACD's network document on the WSA TWiki. Hardware: NCH has requested JNTD to help with the final configuration of the archive load server system disk; this will be done when JNTD returns from Xmas leave. Software: NCH noted that he, ETWS and NJC should meet offline to determine the detailed software work to be done over the coming quarter. ACTION: NCH, ETWS and NJC to meet 2pm in the Plate Library today to discuss the software work and assign various tasks. SSA: No news this week. Astrogrid deployment: No news this week. Miscellaneous: JPE asked NCH to remind MAR about sending JPE the code for the VISTA exposure time calculator that is on the local VSC pages. ACTION: NCH to remind MAR to send JPE the VISTA ETC code that is deployed on the VSC pages.
