ETWS & NCH have been discussing this; likely that the new developer will be assigned this task to start them off. ACTION: JDT to liaise with MCH concerning an end-to-end test of the PAL deployment. SOAP services only appear to be not working; investigation is on-going; GPS volunteered to assist. ACTION: PMW to apply a little pressure to the premises team to solve the continuing problem of heat overload in C1. PMW reported bringing this up at the site services meeting this week; a quote has been obtained for additional airconditioning; action continues. ACTION: ALL to review risk register and think of any new internal or external risks that should be documented in the risk register. Defered until top level plan is explicitly defined. PMW tabled the VISTA risk register as an example. ACTION: JPE to design and set up centralised VDFS web pages. Progressing. We are pleased to report that Nick Cross (currently at JHU) will be joining us in January. Filling the software developer position awaits a response from the candidate to whom an offer has been made. NCH reminded the team about next week's VDMT quarterly get-together at CASU on Wednesday October 6th at 12 noon. PMW will attend via telecon, and will be doing the rounds today to update the progress charts and generate the required report. JMS will travel to CASU to attend; he also reported looking at work tasks in the context of the whole project (rather than monthly/quarterly) with a view to documenting a consistent work breakdown structure for the purposes of reporting on longer timescales (eg. to oversight committees). PMW noted that the forward plan for Q4 will be assembled today; NCH pointed out that it is looking increasingly likely that we will be two bods short for Q4, so the plan must reflect this. PMW also noted that the UK VISTA URD is undergoing final revision to release version 1.0 today; NCH and PMW will review this and get comments back to WJS/JPE today. Comments and issues arising from CASU fortnightly minutes: Nothing new this week. Networking: Nothing new this week. Hardware: NCH noted that the DVD jukebox netready mounts have been removed from the mount tables on cosaxp6, which means the DVD jukeboxes can be shifted from C1 at earliest convenience to make room for the upgrades to the catalogue servers (anticipated to take place later this month). Software: ETWS noted: "The parsing script is now able to create xml output from the sql schemas. You can use this option by using the -x/--xml flag. The output will be produced in the same directory where the html files are. On the other hand I've worked on CU 19 and included more functionality into the WSAgui." MAR noted: "Working on WSA website mainly the user interface forms but some design/layout tweaks. Now thinking about how to implement the user interface for allowing joint queries between the WSA and other datasets held. Checked in the main WSA SQL servlet but still need to plug in a module for doing box searches. Started poster for ADASS." SSA: No further news this week. Astrogrid deployment: No progress on SOAP services on the archive network; MCH and GPS are continuing to investigate. ETWS and MCH have liased and database schema scripts can now be parsed into XML registry documents (see above). Miscellaneous: JMS noted that the WFCAM corrector plate has now arrived in Hawaii and it looks as though it will be in place for the commissioning tests.
