(9th is Good Friday Easter holiday) Actions discharged: ------------------- ACTION: PMW to redraft the Q2 plan and discuss with NCH Friday PM. Discharged. ACTION: NCH to submit a poster abstract for the e-Science "All Hands Meeting" Discharged. Actions partly discharged but continuing: ----------------------------------------- ACTION: ALL to review risk register and think of any new internal or external risks that should be documented in the risk register. Defered until top level plan is explicitly defined. PMW tabled the VISTA risk register as an example. ACTION: JPE to design and set up centralised VDFS web pages. Progressing. (there is now a link to it from our WSA Twiki). - continuing; thanks for progressing these. Actions carried forward from 26/03/04 meeting: ----------------------------------------------- None. Specific points and new actions: -------------------------------- Project management: NCH noted the forthcoming VDMT meeting on April 5th; PMW will be assembling the usual quarterly report on Mon am. Comments and issues arising from CASU fortnightly minutes: NCH noted the minutes of the meeting of the 18th March; no issues arising. Networking: David Schade (CADC) had visited earlier in the week, and informed ETWS, RGM and NCH of the speed of bbftp (Babar ftp utitlity wich employs 8 multi-threaded ftp to achieve high transfer speeds). He requested we transfer the SSA data (300 Gbyte Source table data initially) to CADC, so this will be done from thoth, possibly employing bbftp for benchmarking against the existing CASU-WFAU transfer method (ETWStp, ie. 8-way multithreaded scp). Hardware: NCH had nothing new to report from Eclipse on the Ultra320 HW RAID adaptors (see previous minutes). RGM asked when would be a good time for grendel01/12 to be handed over to the VO team for IP reconfiguring etc; NCH noted that this can happen immediately after new SQL Server "ahmose" going live (see SSA below). Software: IAB reported: "A new pythonised version of CU2 has been checked into the CVS. A python binding to libjpeg has been written which incorporates the IRAF algorithm for pixel stretching (rescaling). CU2 will make jpeg images for all pixel data listed in the transfer log. This new implementation of CU2 is much more efficient than before. An MEF with four 2Kx4K images can be processed in ~<1 sec." NCH asked if CU2 was now completely refactored; IAB reported that a small amount of DB-connectivity related stuff needs to be done, then this one is ready to go. NCH reported working on the CU8 (generalised source merging) and asked for a brain-storming session next week to take a close look at the resulting procedure. ACTION: NCH, MAR, ETWS, RGM & IAB to have a source merging brainstorm to check over the CU8 procedure on Tues 6th April PM. SSA: RGM reported completing installation script, and html pages for the personal SSA and also a "release history" page. ETWS pointed out possible areas of confusion in the existing documentation over the differences between the PSSA and SSA; NCH asked that we have a final meet to look over the web site before launching the SSA (first half of next week) ACTION: NCH, RGM & ETWS to meet Friday 2nd April PM to have a final look pver the full SSA website before launch. Miscellaneous: Nothing else this week.
